Environmental Policy
Green Compliance plc believes that a healthy environment is necessary for the well-being of society, our people and our business, and is the foundation for a sustainable and strong economy. We believe that climate change is one of the most significant environmental challenges of the 21st century and is linked to other important issues such as economic growth and development, poverty alleviation, access to clean water and adequate energy supplies. How governments and societies choose to address climate change will fundamentally affect the way present and future generations live their lives.
Whilst offering professional services based around Energy Performance Certification, Energy Monitoring and Management Systems and Energy Audits we are aware of our impact on the environment. Our ethos is about making a positive contribution to both the environment and the community, and we believe that by working together we can make a real impact.
To underline our commitment, we have established a fund specifically to support environmental organisations working towards tackling climate change. We recognise that climate change cannot be solved through voluntary action alone and we will develop partnerships with relevant organisations to help identify and promote effective and efficient policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We acknowledge the scientific consensus, led by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, that climate change is a reality and that human activities are largely responsible for increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere. Buildings are the fastest-growing source of the UK’s CO2 emissions, currently responsible for 46% of all emissions, with homes responsible for 27%.
We believe it is important to take the environmental impacts and practices of our clients and potential clients into consideration. As we make business selection decisions we recognise that we have an impact on the environment through the goods and services we purchase, and we request that our major suppliers have an environmental policy in place and a commitment to ongoing carbon reductions. We continue to identify policy measures that are creative, meaningful and provide real solutions to environmental problems.
The policy and its implementation will be reviewed annually with the Board of Directors. We have consulted many organisations and experts in developing our policy. We will continue to build upon these relationships to help us better understand environmental issues and their impact, and help identify potential opportunities to make a positive contribution in addressing such issues.
